As claimed:
A hot favorite among those who go by the soft serve on cones, have a taste for sundaes or just plain, frozen cocktails and slushy-s. Deni 5530 serves between 8 and 10 cones, takes between 10 and 20 minutes for doing so and ideal for small gatherings.
An assembled Deni 5530 automatic soft serve machine unit stands 19 inches tall. The stainless steel freezer canister requires a pre-freezing period of 8 hours. The double insulation in the canister wall keeps the liquid frozen for extended periods. A transparent lid, an opening for adding toppings and additional ingredients and an ice cream dispensing tap/spout with an operating handle rounds off the looks part.
At the heart, it is a compact, 20-watt motor fitted on to the lid and controlled with a power switch. The ice cream gets ready to be eaten between 10 minutes (for soft serve) and 20 minutes (for regular ice cream). The whole unit rests on a wide, sturdy base that prevents tipping while operation. A one-year limited warranty comes with every Deni 5530 soft serve machine.
As said:
A lot of people have complained about Deni’s 5530 machines for not living up to the expectations. Most were irate due to the soft serve never getting hard, not even enough to maintain a shape. And that too: Even after prolonged periods of churning, as much as forty-five minutes to an hour. The canisters mostly stayed between eighteen and twenty four hours inside the freezers, at 0o C prior putting to use.
As found:
There is a general confusion on the word ‘extended’ and also on the physics of heat loss. And it proves most omit the manual and prefer going by instincts. The instructions say about storing the canister at -10o Celsius or lower; LPG doesn’t suffice for the traditional petrol. That makes this Deni ice cream maker beneficial only to a certain demographic – those with an access to freezers capable of going down that extent.
The gadget also looks real attractive but not so much as it is billed. Moreover, the assembly portions in the 5530 manuals could have been mentioned a more visual way, not at the corner of the page.
The key to better chances for success is adding small amounts at a time. Putting the whole quart of ice cream mixture results in a sudden drain of the chill from the canister to the mixture and it doesn’t sustain long enough to solidify a mass. The end result is a runny mixture, perhaps as thick as a regular smoothie, milkshakes or slushy-s.
For more, see latent heat. Other factors adding to it is the low power motor and slightly flimsy plastic blades; unless deft with hands, a gap remains between the blue cover and the rest of the machine, allowing external heat to sip in. Being simply forceful may damage the whole unit. For things to snap together, some intuition is needed alongside the printed instructions.
All in All:
A good ice cream maker for them with ample time to invest on learning, testing and believe in achieving long-term goals.
